Update, 508 Park Avenue, Dallas, Site of Robert Johnson’s Last Session

3 Nov

UPDATE, 1/19/2012 Old news, but good news. This site will become The Museum of Street Culture, something every city needs! I think these are still the only photos of the inside to have been published.

Here’s a photo tour of the building where Mississippi bluesman Robert Johnson recorded in summer 1937. At that time, the building housed the regional offices of Brunswick Records. It’s believed that Johnson cut sides like “Hell Hound on My Trail” and “Me and the Devil Blues” in Brunswick’s third floor warehouse, distribution facility.

The building has been abandoned for at least 20 years. It was recently spared the wrecking ball, though, and could see new life. For now, please enjoy a rare look inside 508 Park.
