The Sax Kari Photo Collection III

25 Aug

Back to New Orleans in 1963! First you’re backstage at the auditorium with Smiling Lewis (l), Danny White (c), and one of their pals (ID, anyone?):

Don’t dally, head over to Sax Kari’s record shop/studio, where Wardell Quezergue is hanging out:

Finally, how about a little pinball with Esquerita?

As always, thanks go to the time machine pilot, Mr. Sax Kari, here in an Atlanta motel room ca. 1970, where he was promoting a James Brown show. If you enjoyed these, please check out earlier installments, III, plus Sax’s documentation of a Ray Charles show.

Preston, I’m abut to release a new book titled: SWEET DADDY RED. The settin is early Houston, Texas and covers from early 1900 through 1968. I must say, there has never been anything like it, written before now. The Godfather and Shaft would need to take lessons from him. I would like to know how I would go about advertising it on The Chitlin Switch? The story is about a Black mobster and the woman he loved with a passion, and how he struggled to keep his lifestyle and her innocence separated.

Etha, I think it sounds great, but I’m not equipped to host any advertising on the site. Good luck!
